Pustevny – Radhošť – Rožnov pod Radhoštěm

The most famous ridge walk in the Beskids and a full day out in one: from Jurkovič's mountain lodges at Pustevny past the statue of the god Radegast to the Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius on Radhošť, and then down into the centre of Rožnov.

From the Pustevny saddle follow the blue waymarks towards Radhošť. The gently undulating ridge track passes the turning to the Cyrilka lookout pavilion and after just under 2 km reaches the Radegast statue.

From the statue carry on along the blue waymarks towards Radhošť. A few hundred metres below the summit, at the spot called Zaryje, you pass an information panel and a metal memorial plaque. They mark the place from which the foundation stone of the National Theatre in Prague was quarried. Together with a stone from Říp it stood for the unity of Moravia and Bohemia.

From the chapel take the red waymarks towards Rožnov pod Radhoštěm. The descent runs past the open-air museum Valašské muzeum v přírodě and ends on Masaryk Square; this is the longest section of the whole route, so allow two and a half hours. A bus can take you back to Pustevny (check the timetable in advance).
